Don't know why, kinda a wild hair but I did it. While back my dad gave me the old 69 110 tractor. I learned to drive on this thing. Well got it running good and thought I'd use it to mow this year. But we are getting an unusual amount of snow and he also gave me the snow plow, wheights, and chains. Gotta say this old thing is fun. Anybody else fool with one of these old things?

My dad had one when I was a teenager, he made sure I was very familiar with it.:D Sure was a step up over the old Yazoo push mowers too.

A guy I work with has one, but he just uses his to cut grass with. We don't get much snow here in SC, and when we do it's usually gone before you can scrape it off the driveway LOL.

guy i rented a trailer from for 8 years had one - that's what I used to mow until he showed up one day with a dixon ztr...
still used the JD to push snow and rototill the garden.
also used it for mowing around the fences and the pond where the ztr wouldn't go.
good machines!

We moved into our house in 1981. I bought a circa 1970 JD 112 with mower, snow blower, dozer blade. Built a weight box for the back, added wheel weights and chains, and did an amazing amount of work. That was my principal snow moving machine until about 1988, when I got a 9N for the heavier work. I excavated for my shop addition with the 112 and learned that if you can get enough traction, the transaxle becomes the weak link. Repaired it, though, better than when I first got it. Gave both the 112 and 9N to my father in law in about '91 when I got the 755.

I had a 110 with a mower and snow blower. Bought it used in 1974 (??) or so. Used it for a few years until I got tired of fixing it. Mowed over an acre with it and cleared a sizeable driveway. The snow plow worked pretty good....but lift and steering by armstrong was annoying....especially for my wife. I beleive the guy I sold it to rebuilt it and is still using it for snow.

I think I got my money back upon selling the 110.....and moved up to a 212 for a year or two...then 317 and onto a 318's (X-2). Now have a nice 425 w/ FEL and accessories which is being passed on to my son-in-law.

In each case I bought used and got most of (if not all) my money back upon resale. Not too shabby. :)

I have a 1973 110 that I used yesterday to blow snow. Bought it used in 1978. Mower deck gave up the ghost a few years ago so it lives in the shed waiting for my retirement & rebuild. 110 sleeps 3 seasons & only works in the winter now. MikeD74T

I like the head lights on this tractor.
My 1966 and 1967 Bolens Tractors have the same kind/type.
Better lighting than I get with the lights on the 3 Kubotas.
I have 1 front blade 1 rear tiller and 2 belley mowers for for the old bolens tractors.

had a 1965 cub cadet 100, fine machine, I'd buy one today if they still made them.

I have a 1973 JD 112 with electric lift that is presently setting in my garage. It developed a bad knock in the engine so is waiting for me to take the time to repair the Kohler engine. I bought this second hand in 1983 and installed a new short block as it was purchaed with a similar knock. My teenage boys used it for commercial mowing for several summers so it has had its share of use. It is still a good tractor after 35 years.

I've had a few, I still have a 65' 110. Used to have a few other JD gt's: 318, 400 w/loader,etc...but those are all now sold, that money was what got me my 4110 that i now have.

Here's mine.

With chains, this little guy will plow snow like nobody's business. I think it's pushing 700 lbs with the rear weights.

I also had a 1967 110 with plow blade, mower deck, snowblower, wheel weights, chains, and 8HP motor. Sold it to my buddy when I bought my bigger tractor 5 years ago. He used it until last year when he bought a bigger tractor. The mower deck has since rusted out and he couldn't find a new pan so he just uses it for tooling around the yard. Still running on the original engine which has only had annual oil changes and the occassional new spark plug.

I have said for many years that the 1970s were generally a cultural low-point for many things here in America: fashion, music, cars, TV, & hairstyles to name a few. However, I believe that the 1970s was the Golden Age of Lawn & Garden Equipment.

Many manufacturers made spectacular equipment during that period...truly built to last decades. If I was looking for a "new" mower, I'd would seek out a Deere 140 from the early '70s. Fantastic machine.

Today's lawn & garden equipment is built to a specific service life. That is unfortunate.
