Plowing With A "Grand L" Series

Has anyone had experience plowing with a 2 bottom plow on a Grand L series tractor? The draft control on the 3 point is an option on a Kubota. I called my dealer for some direction on whether or not this option is necessary. I was told by the salesman he'd never ordered the option. The owner's reply was "don't worry about ordering the draft control".
I'm skeptical about their response, so I thought I'd come to the experts.
Anyone got any advice?

Hey Claridon, We pull a 3 bottom with a 2005 GL 3830, the tractor has no draft control and does a wonderful job. I could take some photos of it if you would like.

As much as it's a nice feature unless your looking at doing hundreds of acres I wouldn't worry about it.
They are at their best in consistant soil as you actually use it to set your plowing depth. They then will moniter your hitch making adjustments to keep the same load on the hitch as well as the tractor.
The systems vary and some even on larger farm tractors are so inefficient that farmers don't use them! The reaction time and the amount of reaction on some tractors takes over a twenty percent load change for the system to alter the hitch. These are the ones that are not pratical to pay extra for although they are standard equipment on many tractors.

I wouldn't worry about the purchase of it for your tractor although a gauge wheel on the plow would be advised for consistancy and of coarse proper adjustment.

I've plowed a few (very few) acres with an old 2 bottom trip plow converted to 3pt. It pulled well with the 3410 hst.

My dealer said that the draft control is hard to adjust and even harder to keep adjusted.
