interesting project. This oughta keep you busy for awhile and out of trouble.
in the last picture you posted, I am concerned seeing a crack that large in the frame. Can you elaborate on that crack, any plans to fix it ?

The crack had been completely covered by the truck (as I now know it's called). When I saw it after I had the trailer taken apart, I about had a heart attack. On closer inspection, however, I saw that the back side of the crack has been welded, and there's a strap welded on to the bottom of the trailer as if to take the stress off the crack.

If I were to fix it, I wouldn't do much more than has been done. I may run a bead down the outside of the crack just for practice.

I put the zerks in tonight. I wonder if I'd have been better to use a 11/32" bit. I'm not very experienced with tapping threads, and the hole being slightly smaller than it should be really made for a tough go of it. All is well, though. I pushed some grease through the bolts via the zerks to push out all the metal drillings before assembly.

I'm going to put the trailer together tomorrow when I have some daylight.

Yeah, 11/32 prob would have been OK. Since NPT taps have such a taper
to them (unlike NC, NF taps), the hole size is not critical and the deeper
you tap, the harder it gets.

Once I used press-in zerks. I never will again....only tapped zerks for me!
