blaming TV is easy because it's so obvious...it's not about knowing the difference between right and wrong...it's about what is accepted morally and socially...it (tv content) is much different than it was 30-40 years ago...before it became so liberal there was little if any illicit content portrayed on tellivision that was socially or morally accepted the way it is today...

Pine...You are right, when our grand daughter comes over to visit from next door I see her coming and turn the TV off since I have no idea what kind of profane commercial may come on....I know the Mrs and I are not watching anything bad but the commercials alone are horrible...with all the erectile dysfunction ads along with woman's ads...etc. and if you flip through the channels there is no telling what kind of images or profanity will be heard....so I just turn it off and then if she wants a certain program we can go right to that channel...it is disgusting to have to put up with that kind of programming..

So no more Leave it to Beaver or Father knows best....all gone...

Im MY opinion, parents are mostly to blame for the decline
Not taking an active role in their kids life or disciplining them when they're wrong.

Growing up i was never scared of the police...i was, however scared of my parents. I knew if i meesed up bad enough, id get the strap.

single/ two working parent families also cause problems. Most single moms i know dont discipline their kids at all, and the kids show it. When people look at how great things were in the past, they forget that usually mom stayed home. She was there when you got home from school, taught you right and wrong, but if you were bad... she told dad when he got home.. we all know what happened then;)

blaming tv is easy. If a kid is raised right, it wont matter what they watch. Inside theyll know the difference between right and wrong.

My youngest grandchildren are 8 and 5 Both will tell us when a cartoon show comes on Cartoon Network that Mommy and Daddy said they are not allowed to watch that show. Both parents work, but God and Family come first in their lives.
I feel so sorry for a local woman in her early forties that lives out of wedlock with a man and she has 3 daughters at home. Last week, she just took the 14 yr old to the Dr to get fixed up with birth control pills. She proclaims to be a Christian? Our county will have another child unmarried with a kid or 2 or 3 and on the "Government dole", just because Mama set the wrong example. How can you help someone that thinks they are doing everything right??? Ken Sweet

Maybe its me but I dont mean to distract from the OP concern. But I still dont understand why a company would not allow ,or tell or train a clerk to use common sence in who they card?
Ive been through wal mart and had it beep for the paint and she just chuckles and we proceed. Imagine how Id hold the line up when I say ill have to go to the car to get my ID.
Im over 50 FYI.

I don't want to get into a religious debate with anyone because after all it is only a belief. There is nothing wrong with ones beliefs either, as long as they don't judge or push themselves on others. With that said I do believe a lot of issue's with the young could be delt with by mature repsonsible parents or guardians. I have seen familys fall apart with both parents still acting responsible for the child/ren they have brought into the world. I have also seen single parents act responsible and take care of their child/ren. Then of course there is that % of rotten apples in the barrel, so to speak, that just don't care, and they treat their TV's better then their children. There was NO way ID'ing me for liquid nails saved any youth on the street. We could look at it this way also, junior can't buy this stuff over the counter but he sure can figure out where to steel it from. So in the long run the poor guy that was ID'ed for something stupid will still have to go back because society forced junior into theft. The point is that this did absolutly nothing to help prevent substance abuse. Like I said in another thread if this really is a hard problem then maybe I should have given proof of my address, atleast then if I was a liquid nail head they could find me.

On a side note it seems like it'd be awfull hard to snort liquid nails, that stuff is terrible sticky and seems like it would clog up the inside of a nose real fast???? If that is the case maybe we could offer at a cure to all the sniffers out there :D seal their sniffers shut.

You could say the same thing about showing ID for alcohol or smokes. When I was a kid in high school we had a guy in our class that looked like a gorilla. He was the hairiest human being I ever met. He was 17 and looked like 35. He was our main source for beer and liquor.

Last year Indiana enacted a law last year requiring ALL people to be carded for alcohol purchases. This was in response to stores not carding some people, carding others, selling to minors, etc... if everyone gets carded nobody can slip through the cracks. It also takes the responsibility off of the clerk to judge who "looks" like a minor and who does not. Guess who complained the most? Old people.

Our wallets are out anyway, just take the 5 extra seconds to show the ID for proof of age and move on with our lives.

Problem is Moss....when common sense says someone 50+ yrs is Way Old enough and they ask for your ID...then that is a foolish Law...and I suffer Fools and foolish laws poorly ! We are over regulating ourselves and turning out educated idiots....I talked to a friend the other day that complained about college grads. she hired to work in her store and they could not make change and I said yes, like in the past before the new computerized registers tell them how much change to give, they don't know how to count out the proper change when someone pays...She said NO ! She said " I mean when the register tells them how much change to give back...they still can't figure it out ! " How does that grab you.?:)

Took me a while to figure that one out.

Nah, people who believe in God never do anything bad.
