how deep are those post bases in the ground? they look like there just resting against the form board and sitting on the ground? I cant really tell by the pictures.

ive never seen this system installed before. it looks like theres no concrete behind the unit when the forms are removed.

I hadn't either but the company building my barn/shed/garage is going to be using the Perma Column also and I wanted AJE's thoughts on them. I start building in June sometime. I do know the Perma Columns add considerable cost to a project.

I think they are worth it. They are 5' long and rest on a concrete base in an 18" hole filled with packed gravel. Very sturdy.

sounds like a cool product have used similar things before they do work well

What about an outdoor boiler for heat? If so you can bury that insulated line too!

I don't think I said here but there is a natural gas line ran out there already (I was unaware of it and they hit it while digging the post holes).

Oops...did they do a locate before digging? Good thing nothing nasty happened.

I was told the line was well short of the barn location and I also had a locate done on previous jobs that showed nothing out there. So, they did not.
