Well spring is back and time to get back to work. We went out a few weeks ago and spread some more gravel in front of the garage and yesterday we put our 3rd, and final, garage door in. We decided to put it in the rear of the building so you could pull through the garage and it gives a nice breeze flowing through. Goals for the near future are to get the siding on and run electric up the 1800' feet of driveway and to the garage.

Welcome back warm weather!

Good to see you back at it. Wait till you get the estimate for running power. I am 400' off the road and it's gonna cost 10-12k to get power there. Good luck.

Thanks! I have already gotten the quote a couple of times. It has ranged (because the price fluctuated) somewhere between 7k and 9k. Still way more than I want to spend but what option do I have. Of course, I have to cut a 40' wide path all the way to it through our wooded property.

We have been making some good progress on the siding lately but I do have a question hopefully someone can help me with. We are getting close to the gable and eaves of the garage with siding. With my open rafter system, what is the best way to attach the soffit and siding at the top? I have done some searching but still trying to find the best way. Should we use jchannel on the outside and jchannel against the wall to hold the soffit? What covers up the top, cut edge of the siding at the top and holds it firmly in place?

My idea so far is to have jchannel on the outside and inside of the soffit and a piece of jchannel attached below that (against the wall) to accept the top cut edge of the siding. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Realized I never posted the most complete pictures. I probably will not post a lot more on this build as we are to the point where we are trying to get the house going.

Very nice. I like the way it blends into the surrounding trees.
