Thanks... I plan on the same.. I'm laying out all of mine so nothing is on an outside wall. And for at least a year or so it'll just go outside and stop.. I'll finish the hookups later.

We finished spreading our gravel today. We have used about 65 tons of 3/4" gravel. Next step will be to compact it then put down the vapor barrier.

We finished packing our gravel today and laid the vapor barrier. We also laid the wire mesh out. Next we will place the rebar and tie it into the mesh and be ready for concrete. Getting closer!

We finished all the prep work today. This includes:

  • all gravel level and packed
  • vapor barrier laid down
  • welded wire mesh laid down throughout the majority of the building
  • rebar laid out around the edges of the building and garage door entrances

Here is a video of me walking around inside after we were done. I am not saying it is THE BEST way to do it, but it is the way we did it and may help someone in the future.

Nice video. Now comes the hard part. Are you contracting the pour out to professionals or are you and friends going to tackle it yourself?

Thanks, Wedge. We have decided to have someone come in that is experienced and do the pour with us working as laborers. I know it is going to be a lot of tough work using wheel barrows to get the crete to the back of the building but it will be worth it.

Today was awesome! We got the floor poured. Everything went as planned. Used 43 yards of 4000 psi concrete with a slick finish inside and a tapered broom finished apron. Here are a couple of pictures but I will try to take some better ones soon. Tomorrow the guy is going to come back to cut the lines in it.

43 yards seems like a lot of extra? How thick did you pour?

It was 6" thick, including the 3' X 40' apron on the front. It still was extra so we finished up our headwall at our dry creek crossing and made a smooth transition into that pipe as well.
