And people really need to get with the 2nd has nothing to do with hunting mind set.

People jump me about times change, that was 100's of years ago, it's a living document, etc. please look at history, it repeats over and over.

Wait till them terrorists that people don't think exist show up in their neighborhood in the future. Hopefully it will never happen but if it does I hope they own a weapon to defend themselves. I fought for my country and will die for my country and won't be told what to do by some Radical folks with a mission. Not talking politics but a lot of people live in a fantasy world where they think no one is out there to hurt them. Just my opinion....Thanks for letting me Vent...

Forget the terrorists - as a former Deputy in a big and understaffed county the thought of armed good guys was a huge comfort when dealing, often alone, with other citizens. On traffic stops, a CHL (Concealed Handgun License) established immediate credibility. My experience, 100% of the time, was that CHL holders were polite, sober, had a DL, had insurance, got a verbal warning and a heartfelt, "Have a nice day."

I have since been arrested in the neighboring county for using a legally possesed handgun to defend my person. The DA declined to prosecute and apologized. The 24 year veteran that arrested me lectured me before giving me a night in the clink. The sad thing is he held the attitude that only he was empowered to fight crime and that we (the citizens) should stay out of it. The trespassers that were destroying private property and that ultimately almost ran me over were released without so much as a ticket.

The more Federal/Local cooperation that occurs, the more you can expect that we will be relieved of the right and RESPONSIBILITY of taking care of ourselves. Government needs problems to justify their existence. The local Republican Party Rep confessed they will never fix education, crime or the roads - as these are emotional issues that can be reliably used to gain tax increases.

Those who surrender liberty for security - end up with neither.

Heck since we're offering unsolicited opinions and since I understand the original intent of the 2nd amendment - I believe I should be able to own anything the gubmint can - call it a level playing field. Not that I could afford a Bradley or an M1 . . . but the sentiment is correct.

My response was to "terrorists showing up in a neighborhood", but I guess you're right if the mode of transport they use to show up in your neighborhood in is also loaded with legal concealed carries, it would make a difference, but I doubt that my little 22 or my 12Ga. will make a difference when they show up with a dirty bomb, and I doubt that they will stop any govt agency that decides they want to take them, they have some pretty wicked smart bombs themselves, but if they make someone feel invincible, oh well...........

There are concealed carries on planes called air marshalls. My nephew is one. The towers were just a little too late in the defense mode. Nobody thinks anything will ever happen and thats when it will. You get complacent.

I hope you have a good throwing arm when you start hurling rocks if ever attacked. Maybe you can make a plea deal.. On a lighter note... To each their own and what one believes is good enough for me. Just don't try to change my beliefs. I guess thats called politics and TBN doesn't want us to go there....How's the weather in KY? You around Ft Campell???

I didn't watch the video, nor do I intend to. The suggestion that I should leads me to the question of why? I have a fundamental problem with the suggestion that a police officer's opinion of my right to bear arms is somehow more important than anyone else's. Just exactly why is that so? How did a nation of free citizens come to annoint law enforcement officers as the duty experts on our rights? I'm sorry if I sound cynical, but I just don't understand why this individual's opinion has any more merit than your or mine. Judging from the responses to this thread, I'd guess that his opinion is pro-second amendment, but to me it doesn't matter. I'm just curious why so many are so quick to defer to "law enforcement" on matters that are clearly outside their area of expertise. If you must, then quote a lawyer, at least he has a bit of expertise in the matter, but why a police officer?
