Been away for a while and now I am back online. I would like to add my 2 cents to the Poll.
I took delivery of my 2210 in May of 03. As of now i have 50.2 hours on the clock and the center hinge plate is showing only seeping oil. @#*"", Is there anymore current news on this from anyone??

This problem appears to be sort of random, so I would expect JD to continue to deal with this on a case-by-case basis. Contrary to some other posts I am reading recently, JD corporate and my dealer worked well with me to solve the problem. I have detailed my experience above and would suggest you follow the problem reolution guidelines in you warranty. You may need to be both assertive, and patient, throughout the process. It took me almost a year to get all the way to a point of satisfaction. I do believe they can fix these leakers with a different toplink plate.

Jim,

Keep the faith. By now I would expect JD has a good grip on this issue. While it is not one of those catastrophic liability or equipment disabling flaws, it has happened enough that they should have some kind of a routine fix for your dealer to reference. If your dealer doesn't respond well, contact the Customer Complaint Center.

<font color="green">Since the dealer repaired my leaking top link plate last year I have been using my tractor with a box blade and rear blade and so far so good. The dealer said that when the tractor was assembled there was an insufficient amount of sealant used. I say so far so good because there might be a very slight leak at one corner. It is not enough to "wet" the rear end of the tractor but is attracting a little dust. When the leak first appeared the hydraulic fluid was running down the rear end of the tractor.

There is still time left on my warranty so you bet I am watching the problem very closely for any repeat occurrence.

I want to update all of you on my leaky link plate. I had already convinced myself that it was going to be a fight. So much so that I had attached this thread from this site and the new part number for the redesigned link plate from the JD site to tractor. I also included a letter ex planing the problems of some of us here. The dealer picked up my tractor on a Thursday and kept it for a week and a half. The dealer replaced the link plate to the new redesigned one and did not charge me for the part, labor, pick up or delivery /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
since the new plate was installed i haven't seen any leaking but i have not done a lot of work with the 3pt hitch. This holiday weekend i am installing a tube and drive to the back of my property. I will be putting the new plate to the test we will see if it starts leaking again.

PS Thanks to the Dealer "Greenia's outdoor power and sports"

JDF , it looks like just a seal on the PTO shaft , why dont you just replace it yourself and save the money. looks like the back plate comes right off...;)

Chris,

I took that pic last night after finishing a long day (spread 210 yards of top soil) with the 2210 and a New Holland x565) -- btw, in some ways the 2210 was more productive than the skid steer, although the 565 did have a bigger bucket. Anyway, I need to look at it more closely. However, if you read this post from the beginning, you'll see that it is the top link plate that flexs and leaks down over the pto shaft etc. There is also notes about special sealants etc. So, I'm still going to visit my dealer. Though my tractor will be out of warranty, I'll bet if this is the dreaded top-link problem, he'll still take care of me. :)

Hello! Long time reader on this site, however not a member until recent. I have a 2005 John Deere 2210 with 170 hours and no leaks. I also use the three point often. Love all the info here and look forward to participating!

I understand. I should have read the post more closely.
It would be great if the dealer would take care of this for you..;)

Update. Spoke to my dealer yesterday and the service mgr. called today. They are now replacing the gasket with a flexible sealer. Since I'm coming up on a 300 hour hydrostatic fluid change anyway (I'm switching to a synthetic blend), I'm going to remove and reseal the top plate myself. The service mgr. asked me to put a straight edge on the plate to make sure it isn't somehow warped. Anyway, I'll post some pics when I get it apart.

Maybe I'll be the last 2210 owner to experience this! :)
