Here we are getting ready to install the spillway pipe. Man WHAT A JOB that was! Probably the hardest 8 hours of work I have ever done in my life. The pipe is 5 20ft sections of 10" schedule 40 PVC. Very heavy. We used the trackhoe to set it in. Installing the 1/2" steel anti-seep baffles on the pipe was the hard part.

Another view of the pond with my dads new house being built in the background. My wife and I are building a log home on the opposite side of the property, just on the back side of the new pond.

A view of the backside of the pond. More pictures to come soon. Stay tuned! We still have a lot of work to do before this project is done.

Coming Along!!
Do you guys work for CAT? I noticed the CAT sticker on the back of the truck and all of the equipment is a cat. Just wondering. My Dad was a Caterpillar Salesman for 30+ yrs.

You seem to have a beautiful piece of property, are you guys farming it yourself?

No. The reason for the Cat stickers everywhere is because Dave (the operator) has Caterpillar equipment exclusively. Throughout the project, I have been lucky enough to be able to run some of the equipment with him, because normally he has another operator working for him, but his other operator just took another job so it worked out perfect for me! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
And after getting acquainted with the Cat equipment, I can certainly see why Cat was his choice. Very smooth equipment to operate. The D5H is a very impressive machine.

Seat time in some big equipment would be awesome. I have done a great deal of work with my little BX22 BH and feel I have missed my calling, it is so much fun to do a good job using the tractor. I reckon if one had to do it everyday it may not be as much fun but i can't fathom it being a job I would dislike. I want to build a small pond in my smaller field but it will have to wait till I find the time. Has anyone found the time I lost? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
