Another shot, got it in, and up to today the rain has filled the rest of it. I need to raise one side of the shore to be able to fill it all the way up, but have blocks and sand to make that a reality.

The area to be raised up with blocks and sand. My lot naturally falls off this side........along the other side of the pond I will have to make a barrier to drain the water around instead of in or under the pond. Probably will use edging to do this then hide with landscaping rocks.

Here we have it with the top on it. We took a sink base, and 2 drawer bases and bolted them together. This formed a 30" square base for an island. This provided plenty of storage where we used to have a table, with no storage.

If you noticed in the last photo, I dont have a fancy mitre box, and I am not the best wood worker anyway. This is the WORSE mitre that I got, the other 3 are right on. The space is going to be used for the "top" which is broken up plates and floor tile.

Back to the pond. Cooled down some today, and at this time of day pond in the shade so great time to dive in......started on the waterfall. Taking the first step is always the hardest, but you build from there. As you can see we need a couple more big flat rocks, but this is the basic design. The area behind this with water is the filter area. Lava rock and a cover and it is done.

And finally getting some leaves out of the pond. I think I need a bigger net. In all the photos of me in the pond, I am walking on my knees, Pond is about 28" deep in the middle

Danny,

I wont say the silly thought that came to mind with you in the pond. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But I will tell you that it looks really nice. It'a larger then I thought it would be, which is always a good thing. I also think that the waterfall is going to be even nicer then the one you wanted to save. Sometimes good things come from not being able to do your original plan.

Keep the pics coming,
Eddie

Honey, I swear I thought the tractor would float, or, WOW, now thats a deep puddle.
Danny that's shaping up nicely. Will you stock with any kitty amusements?

All the best,
Martin

I hope to get enough done ( ponds never are done, just done for this year) to get some fancy goldfish in it. Getting the falls done and the line for the pump buried is next, then I will have more filtration. The shore of the pond will be a work constantly in progress. My guess is that we will have fish in it in a month or less. Being as hot as it is here, working on it during the day or early evening is not an option, but looks good for later this week as it cools down some.

Well here it is a few weeks later, a few degrees cooler and dryer. We went to the fish place today checking on some things, and we had to bring home some new residents.

Also a bit of plant life to add some color, buried the hose from the pump to the falls, and now waiting on the lava rock (from a friend) and get a few more flat stones for the falls.

Hi Danny,

Looks like you do things differnetly in Indiana. Here in Texas, we try to get the liner in, the waterfall in and have it all tested before buying fish and plants. Obviously you have more confidence in your workmaship than I do in mine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just kidding you. I can't wait to see some finish shots of the waterfall and landscaping.
