I had the Google tool bar and it prevented me from clicking on the links within the posts here on TBN. I finally uninstalled it because it was frustrating to manualy cut and paste the links in a new page.

That's odd, for I have no problem clicking on links using the Google toolbar. How long ago did you try it? Here is the Revision History of all of their updates.

I updated it about two weeks ago and still had problems. Whenever I would click on a link that was within one of the threads here on TBN my computer both at work and at home would just sit idle. This was evident in other web sites also. The only way I could get to the next link was to cut and paste it. I finally went into Alexa options and looked for anything relating to TBN and removed them. But still I could not click on any of the links and get there. I finally un-installed it and now everything works fine. I also used Spybot-Search and Destroy and it found a bunch of junk from Alexa which I was on the understanding that Alexa had none of this in it?? So anyway as much as I liked Alexa I will keep it off my computers.

We have this problem at work. We have DSL and when working on any program-not on internet-ads will keep popping up. My computer man is suppose to stop by and take care of this problem. Only happening on one computer.

It sounds like you might have this problem.

As the article stated: "Pop-up spam differs from pop-up ads in that no Web browser or Web site visit is required. Instead, these ads take advantage of a messaging function built into many Windows operating systems."
