It depends on the style of anchor...the main purpose of chain on ground tackle is to get the anchor to set quickly...

If I get your 'drift' on the nature of reality... agreed. Lots of incredibly interesting things to learn. The internet although full with crap, untruths, and biased content is also the greatest tool to educate yourself on just about anything. Just amazing how far we have come from 'World Book' and Encyclopedia Britannica!

Isn't that the truth. Took me a few years to realize the value of Google Search. I rarely use my equipment manuals anymore. It's as quick to Google the question. Plus the side comments about shortcuts that add to the value.

I believe though, that the Internet has become more manipulated lately. That is, companies can remove unfavourable stuff. Or despite a product being ubiquitous and extremely popular, even copied (like a popular DC motor drive) I was unable to find a shread of technical information or drawings. But, tons of selling venues. It's like the FREE stuff is getting harder to find.
Maybe time to explore the "DARK" web. I don't even know where that is. Maybe FREE manuals and schematics galore there.
