a trick which I haven't seen anybody use in years is two tow chains with a tire (sans rim) between them. If you need to "jerk" the stuck vehicle a little, the tire absorbs the initial shock yet you will still give them a "snap."

We used to pull a drag to spread the gravel on our dirt road.
2 chains were the towing method and from time to time we'd snag something and I feared flying chains and or damaged bumper.
I inserted small tires midway in both tow chains and that solved all the problems as the tires made nice 'shock absorbers'.
Worked great!

Yeah here's a good one that so many men were told growing up. Girls were sugar and spice and everything nice. Yeah, O.K.

Having been married going on 56 years, I am a bit passed the growing up stage, but I will say this. I believe that womankind was created as something special; that they fulfill a role biologically and socially that has enabled the species to survive. I have the greatest respect for women, and give them the benefit of the doubt...and I try to treat them accordingly. Of course once they prove to me they don't deserve my respect and admiration, that's another matter. They were meant to be, and are, entirely different from men and I refuse to believe anything else. Women...I love them.

They have their ways, and men are generally never taught this. They are sent to a gun fight with a slign shot. Generally speaking, there is and has been a fifty percent divorce rate. To me, that's proof enough that something aint right. I'm cetain the the failure rate amoung non married couples is even higher. Also, many of the fifty percent of stayed married couples aren't exactly having a great time of it either.

A 50% divorce rate might be a popular misconception. I always believed it but recall reading something from maybe 5-10 years ago that the 50% was seriously wrong. The actual rate was much lower and to get the 50% number you had to add multiple divorces and count them as original divorces. That and other issues and if you calculated those that did NOT get divorced, the numbers read entirely different. Sorry I don't recall more and maybe someone else does but my takeaway was that I felt I was deceived by the 50% number. In effect, that it was fake news. Just recently I read that more people were staying married longer and that this was the continuation of a trend. Just my free commentary.

I heard it’s obtained by taking the number of people who got married that year vs the number of divorces that year which is a seriously flawed method.

In my small rural community I know, or have heard of half the population. So I have a good reference to go by. I'm guessing divorce is more like 15%. And I'm being generous with that number.

I have been married to the same woman through thick, thin (well maybe), 2 cancers and I do not how many other challenges for 37 years. I said ..I do... and that sums it up. No going back, I gave my word. Marriage is work and people these days do not always seem to understand that grass is not always greener under a different skirt.
