6dogs - my Mother must have been old enough to remember the depression. She cleaned and saved/reused everything possible. Tin foil, plastic utensils - even paper. I KNOW my Father remembered & understood the depression. He REFUSED to save anything. I guess his take was - throw it away- it will create a need and a job for somebody. My Mother even save her old, worn out panty hose. She washed it and saved it in a cardboard box. She said - you never know when it might be needed again. I guess during WW2 - panty hose was reused in parachute manufacturing. My Dad found the cardboard box and threw it away.
