Wanted to revive an earlier post to see if anyone has any other ideas. I just bought a used worksaver hpd-16. I have driven 5 posts in clay and can't get a level post. I am driving square 5 inch posts 2.5 ft in. It seems the posts tend to lean away from the driver. I'm pretty disappointed since I've put in plenty of posts using an auger and a little quickcrete. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Bud

One of the biggest problems with drivers is that it takes a pretty high dollar unit to drive a plumb post. That said, you could either use that angle to your advantage (angle out so tension pulls it plumb) or try to compensate with your initial angle. Another solution may be to auger a plumb pilot...

Thanks for the reply. I'll try to continue to tweak the process. I guess starting on the back area has it's advantages.
