Post item location in Classifieds?

I was just browsing the Classified ads section of this board and noticed that very few people place their location (or even their part of the country) in their ads. Since this board is viewed by people all across the United States (and even several people from across the globe) the location of the item for sale is a critical piece of information. I'm sure it is a case of the seller "not thinking about it" versus "I don't people to know where I am...".

If I have a strong interest in an item, then I'll use the seller's email information to track down the information. But if I only have a mild interest in the item, usually I'll just blow it off rather than go through all of the trouble of trying to find out where it is located. The sad part is that if the "mild interest" item happened to be within 100 miles or so then I'd probably have purchased it.

Muhammad, you might consider making "Location" a data field such that if they see it, they will think to fill in the information.

It will be any/all searching... so if you want to search for ads for Kubota tractors in the 35-50HP range, posted between April 1 and May 1, between $12,000 and $20,000, but with not more than 500 hours and located in Virginia... well, that's exactly what you'll get. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Or if you just want John Deere tractors on a nationwide search, you can do that to. Any combination of the above fields will be optional... plus even more options.

The features sound great. Since I am considered to be the "Kubota" expert at my work (I got'em fooled...) I am always having to look for good deals on tractors and implements for various co-workers.

With the old Classified system I noticed three things:

(1) Advertisers left out a lot of important information, and
(2) The link from the new classified section to the old classified section isn't really that obvious, so some apparently miss it altogether, and
(3) Based upon comments I've seen in various posts it seems that some (a lot?) people don't know that the old Classified system is still working.

I submitted my post about "item location" so that hopefully everyone would realize that the classified section was still operational and hopefully advertisers would include valuable information.
