Well,
WHile its fun to build one set, or maybe two, the bill of materials didn't include time or electricity for the welder. I'd have to say that the prices from a guy in the midwest ($220 + $60 shipping), probably wasn't too much more than I'd have to charge to make it worthwhile. I think the message here is, if you can and want to make them yourself, they don't have to be complicated or expensive. If you don't/can't make them, then a price of under $300 including shipping is pretty good.
Personally, if I didn't "have" Kevin's welder, I would have bought one, and considered the $200 savings as a down payment on the welder. Next up, gauge wheels for the fork I bought.
