Hi
that welder should do a fine job, what size wire will you be using? I just modified a tooth bar using an L-TEK 250 migmaster using .045 wire and it did a good job.
Good luck and post some pics as you go

Charlie.

I used my stick welder on mine. My little Lincoln wire feed is a bit small for that job. Yours looks like it can do it with the right wire.

Jeff,
I used my Millermatic MIG on this. It was before I bought a stick welder. My MIG is only the 135 model which is a 120v unit. But it did weld it pretty fair. I use .023 wire and gas. I've found that it seems to weld better with thin wire (and it was suggested by a pro-fabricator). I managed to catch a tooth on the back of the trailer while unloading the tractor and it about pulled the whole truck and trailer with it. Didnt break anything and a hammer straighted out the trailer frame. Anything in the future that has heavy metal I will be welding with my Miller 300/200 Thunderbolt XL stick. Plenty of heat.

I thought about a V shaped front edge but the cutting edge on my Bulher loader is already 1/2 thick plus the metal for the bucket itself. I was concerned about it being built up too much trying to get a V edge to cover the buckets edge. It would be nice if your having to work in a bunch of rocks.

My next project is grafting a Guilin backhoe off of a 30hp dozer onto my Kioti. Need to make a good subframe because its so heavy.

thx
Jim

I had an old track loader that had a welded on smooth edge on the bucket. I welded on pieces of 2 ton truck springs every 6 inches or so.The pieces were about a half inch thick and 3 inches wide and stuck out of the bucket about 2 inches, just enough to tear up the dirt a little. I know it was a little jerry rigged and hilbilly looking, but the lod loader was in just as good of condition as the cobbled up cutting edge. And it did work.

My first tooth came in.

I will make a tooth bar with it. Foundd it on ebay. One TBN person emailed me and asked me to post an ebay link. This won't work well on TBN because ebay closes listing links after a few months. You can search for "bucket teeth" and make sure the ones you order are for a tooth bar. You can also search for the guys phone number "866-222-2557". Note the- instead of + in the area code. Be sure to click the "Search titles and descriptions " box under the search field.

You could also call him direct.

I wanted to take the bucket and tooth to the steel store ato help me select the best fitting steel. After I make a tooth (single tooth) bar and make sure every thing fits well I'll order seven more teeth and turn it into a teeth bar. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hope this helps.

P.S.

The tooth shown is pretty big. I have a 68 hp M6800. Must CUT's probably could use the smaller tooth/teeth.

OK, I got some of those teeth from Mike on ebay. Does anybody know a good source of hot rolled bar stock in the southern New Hampshire area?
Thanks,
Joe

Ender,

Have you already paid for this toothbar you have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for? If not, then try this place

Markham Welding

I know they will turn one out in less than a week, from order to delivery and price appears to be 200 to 300 dollars.

Look at this TBN post from Big Mike for a picture and more info.

Mike
