pouring concrete in pole building

...lol...lol..lol....lol..lol... a $5.00 bet? I went to 5 different places, all had the rod but didnt say what grade, so i called the local welding shop and asked, he said napa, i called them and sure enough, they had all sizes in grade5! so like said, i got the 5/8, Just looked at the lowes site and they have the anchoring cement also, and the 'L' brackets, so if the weather looks good for sunday, thats when im shooting for it.

Mopower....... You have a lot of people here rooting for you, however, I hate to break the news to you, but the very same people are also of the belief that you are way over your head on this project and are afraid that you are going to either get hurt or the building is going to collapse. There is a rumor going around that a local bank has set up a emergency contingency fund for people to make donations to for either event. I pray that neither comes to fruition. I am hoping and praying that you will prove the nay sayers wrong and that you will complete this project, not get hurt, it will with stand the onslaught of the spring storms and winds, and that all will be well. Now, I will admit, that even I sometimes am not that optimistic, but we are all rooting for you never-less. Gods speed be with you.... may the winds of good fortune be to your back..... oh boy, now the weather doesnt want to cooperate, its supposed to be ok sunday, the day i do it, but its supposed to storm saturday, and ive already dug out around the posts, so im sure the spots will be full of water, wich pretty much ruins the plans..unless i can think of a way to cover around the holes

Wait you are now worried about spliting the rock? Did you not tell us the rock was very very large?.....If it splits when you drill it then you can support the post and remove the split up rocks...pour a footer and then use you rod and anchor to anchor to the footer.

if it just carck some chunks out fill the whole the in anc. cement with the rod in it.....

hey maybe when you start drilling you will find gold and have to move the barn....
oh yea and if you do find gold, you must split it with each or us

This has turned out to be the most entertaining of all threads. Mopower is up to 155 posts -- may be a new record. There's an old chinese saying: "when the student is ready, the teacher will come," and that's what's going on here as long as mopower keeps doing the right thing. We're all routing for you, mopower, to have a successful project -- and now one with many mid-wives -- but a darn hard labor!

I want to concrete my pole barn eventually, so this thread was caught my eye. As many threads on here, the primary subject discussed is not the one listed subject of the thread.
Lots of good info here. Course, Junkman has lots of helpful hints but you have to take his ribbing and doubting Thomas tude along with it. ...and everyone reading this wants to see the results of their suggestions NOW.
From my view, just digesting this whole thread, you've come right along and learned a lot from the wisdom offered on here. I fully understand with something this new to you, your bound to have lots of questions as to the details of how to do it. And there is so much info here, it is easy to miss a point er two. I think your on the right track now and you'll get those pesky poles anchored down, then you'll be able to get back to the business at hand.
I had to deal with dirt on my pole barn floor when i first built it. The dust on everything was very annoying. I asked about other alternatives here on TBN a long while back, and someone suggested 'crush and run'. My PB (pole barn) is 28 x 70 and no way could i consider a concrete floor at that time. Crush and run gravel turned out to be a good alternative. Much better than a dirt floor, and when I eventually put the concrete in the 'crush n run' will make a good base.
