On a semi-related note to this thread.... if one's only planned use for rear hydraulics is a log splitter, would it be best to just bungee open a rear SCV as opposed to adding a PB kit? And/or can you add the Deere PB kit w/o effectively disabling the 3PH?

Yes, you could use rear SCV with a bungee, but B8 already has the PowerBeyond for his backhoe. If you have neither the PB or rear SCV, and are not getting a backhoe, then get the SCV package so you could use it for other things down the road.

I guess, more generically, I was wondering if when plugged into a PB (in my case when using a woodsplitter) if I'd loose ability to raise/lower the 3PH..? In other words would it be "better" to plug a splitter into a regular SCV if you also need raise/lower the 3PH?

Well, What machine do you have?

If you read this thread from he beginning, it may answer your question.

Kenny,

... should have said..... inching towards taking the plunge on a new 4320. In speaking with several dealers most suggest getting a PB to run a spitter, but one noted that when in use, the PB disables the 3PH. But looking at the other replies it would appear that it depends on the config of the PB kit...??....

thanks (and I promise to let this thread die if at all possible) :)

With that tractor, there should be two places to plug in the return, one dis-ables the 3PH, while the other does not.

If at all posible with your budget, consider getting the tractor with both options, then you will be all set for many options/attachments.
