Power Beyond or HPCO valve help needed

When taking fittings apart, which would you rather clean up before reassembly, paste or tape?

Neither one is difficult to clean up. The people that get in a hurry are the ones who forget.

I just took the Gesen V12 valve apart and built a power beyond adapter to fit it. I posted several photos and a dimensioned drawing in my photo album, Bobs Backhoe on this site. I will put it back together and test it in a few days if the weather holds out. Hopefully this will avoid the problems with too much pressure on the seals of any valve in the system.

The original adapter I built had a 1/4 NPT internal thread, but no standard hydraulic fittings are available to fit a 3/8 hose. A 3/8 NPT would work, but the wall thickness would be rather thin, so I changed the design and used a O-ring seal type fitting with a 9/16-18 thread. This will accomodate a standard 3/8 hydraulic fitting and provides a better seal with plenty of wall thickness, although it takes a little more machining. A PDF version of the drawing is attached.
