Mulch is going to be one of my larger projects. Do you make your own or have it hauled in?

Reds:
Sounds like a fine collection of toys - er - tools. I predict, however, that your'll be expanding your inventory of attach plates. It's great fun looking for more and more things to weld them to.

Granulated limestone. It is gray and dusty and looks like, well, moon dust.

Thanks Charlie, I'll be keeping an eye on you guys to see what good ideas you come up with. May even need my own welder (new toy er tool). Now thats something I haven't done since high school.

Re: Power Trac Dreaming

Ok Mart I can do that ... maybe this Sunday. Saturday probably shot. The wife and I are leaving fo NJ at 6am to pick-up our new puppy. I think maybe 4.5 hrs up, 1.5 hrs layover, 6 hrs back (puppy stops) ... so yea Saturdays out. Maybe I'll mount each one and I need to test them all anyway. So far I've just used the large bucket and the rake.

Re: Power Trac Dreaming

Pajoube - so far its all been delivered. Just how do you make mulch? Would that be like a compost pile? Sure would be nice to make my own. Since we moved in to our new home in Feb 2000, we've put down about 65 yards worth. PT just made made my life a whole lot easier!

Re: Power Trac Dreaming

There are different types of mulch. The city were I live normally has free mulch (chipped branches, leaves, dirt, almost like a compost mix) for the taking but have not seen this for a couple of years.
I make my own but can never get enough when you consider raising flower beds and new planting areas. Thats where the PT425 with bucket will come in handly - turning the pile every 5 days or so.
I have been looking at a good chipper but not sure if this will be cost effective. What do you pay for delivered mulch?

Re: Power Trac Dreaming

Best price was $13yd. This was for delivery of 15+yds. Last time I ordered 20yds from the same company it was $13.50 per yd. Paid as much as $20 for 1 yard just to be able to finish off an area and not have to move mulch twice. Just spread it from the pick-up to the flower bed. They do have free mulch at the local landfill but I've been hesitant to go that route. I've heard rumors about weed problems with that mulch althought the price is definitley right.
