Any one attempted to build a powered rake? I figure a small car rear end with the spider gears blocked, a couple of sprockets driving a drum with teeth set at an angle all mounted to a suitable frame, a PTO shaft to make it all go around and you have it! (more or less)

Thanks

Dave

I was thinking of doing the same thing, But we have a large Sweepster 3 point broom that is at the landfill we run. I can buy it for 300 dollars I may go from there it has 2 telescoopic shafts for angling the drum for the teeth and the gear box and 3 point mount. I know a fella down the road that has some weld on carbide shanks and teeth from a road planer i can get for a song.

If I could find a rototiller with a bent shaft or worn out teeth, I'd buy it to make a power rake. I might (someday) bite the bullet and buy a gearbox and just fab the whole thing............

As much as the factory ones cost, no way can I afford to buy one--unless I could get a long term contract with a builder to do all his lots. Most of them have implements they can attach to their bobcats and work the finish ground, so I doubt I could compete.

Post pics if you build one please.
