I just had my Cummins diesel in the shop for a fuel leak problem. When I noticed the leak, I could tell it was coming from behind the water separator, but I wasn't sure if it was the water separator, fuel pump, or what? I kept shining a flashlight and starting the engine until I saw the leak squirting out of a hose where it was clamped to a rigid line. Although I could not find reference to the line anywhere in my maintenance manual, it didn't take a lot of figuring to see it was the excess fuel return line going to the fuel tank. It was a low pressure line. The shop took 1' of hose out of the line and replaced it with new hose and used a piece of rigid tube as a splice with two clamps. The hardest thing was getting to the hose in the tight spot where it was tucked.
I don't know about your Ford, but I'd sure try to put my eye on where the leak is coming from before taking a shot in the dark. It just might be something simple like mine. Good luck with your repair.:thumbsup:
