Well, here is the shortened version of the long story: I've been out of work recovering from some surgery to my torn tendon in my ankle (my internet connection is through my company via a s.....l.....o.....w dial-up connection). During this time, I have been in contact with 3 Massey dealers. The outcome is I have a new 1552 on the way set up as I wanted. The only thing I ended up forgoing for now is the backhoe; my needs for the backhoe are limited and compared to the money I saved it was worth it. The only reason I was able to do any of this is my daughter starts school (today in fact) so the money we were spending for daycare is kind of like "found" money to us; I couldn't go over what we were spending there and as it turned out I will be spending less per month. The other reason this happened is Agco's 0% financing right now.

I will be in a cast for another couple of weeks; around the time it comes off my tractor will be delivered. I will keep you posted and put some pictures up ASAP.

I want to thank all of you guys here for your support; I know a few of you contacted dealers as it wasn't long after I posted here that I started getting call-backs. You are a great bunch of folks!

I want to thank Rick at Northwoods Power for working with me as well as Dan at Big Boy's Toys. Special thanks to Nate at Devon Lane for putting me into the deal I needed. All the dealers were great to work with, one just went a little further than the rest. I wish I could have done business with all of them...

Mine was a very similar story. Most of my neighbors have orange tractors, so I went to the Kubota dealer (who also sells JD) and got a salesman who clearly couldn't have cared less about my business.

Dont worry...its not because you were on a Hog...They did the same thing to the sales dept down here after the takeover...luckily I bought my tractor while it was still a family shop (Delekto).

I made a couple of calls and found two very friendly Massey dealers. I went to the one closest to me (only 35 miles away - the other is about 55 miles away), had a great conversation with a helpful salesman, and we closed the deal. It was delivered 3 days later and I have congratulated myself on many occasions because this has been the perfect tractor for us.
North or South? I've switched to getting all my stuff (not parts) from a CIH/Massey Dealer who is EXCELLENT.

Sounds like the same place I got mine - Waterman's in Sabattus.

I haven't needed them for anything serious, but have called a few times with a newbie question (the type they have probably heard a hundred times) and they were very friendly. I've bought some parts there, too - but except for the loader handle that I broke my first weekend, and a dust boot for the tie rod joint, things have been pretty quiet.

I haven't been there enough to know them by name, but they seem to know their stuff and have a good sense of humor.

BINGO! Actually waiting on a call probably next week or so stating that my Blower is in (Rear mount 74") Just Like you...Hammond didnt want to sell me what I want....I was "inconviencing" them apparently, what a run around, and its not like its only a 5 dollar part, we're talking 3k worth of steel... The Waterman boys really took good care of me.
Delekto Bros was a Class act... I was sad to see them retire...

To be fair, I don't think my experience is typical for the entire company, just the salesman I happened to get.

I actually bought my 54" rear mount snowblower from a different salesman who was very pleasant and responsive. They had a leftover 2007 model that was quite a bit less than what Waterman's quoted me. They also picked up my tractor, measured and cut the PTO at their shop, then delivered my tractor back off later the same day.

I also bought my wood chipper from Hammond's store on Minot Ave. and that was also a good experience. It looked like the chipper was something they found in a corner at Delekto Bros. They treated me right and the unit works great.

Having said all that, I really like my Massey Ferguson and also like dealing with Waterman's. So in the long run, I'm sort of glad that the first salesman I met didn't need or want my business, because Massey was not on my short list at that time - and now there's one in my garage.

That could be....I really cant complain a bit about the Hammond Service & Parts side of the house...and to be fair as well, I know alot of stuff was happening at the time...they were boxing up and moving from the Delekto Bros location to the brand new shop on Minot Ave. And even then, the first few times I went to the new shop they were unboxing and setting up. Maybe once everything is "Back to Normal" things will be good again...I bought my JD Gas Grill from the Hammond Union shop on my way by for work and they were great...went above & beyond even for "just a Grill"...on my way by in the AM I purchased it (display model) and they took it apart and wrapped everything up in Paper/Shrink wrap so it wouldnt get scratched in my truck bed...when I drove back by in a few hours it was "Ready for pickup"...

That is true...they hauled off all the "older" stuff from Delekto's lot to the "Mahindra Minot Ave" location...Fred over there (Former Owner)is REALLY good, thats where I picked up my GB65 Box Blade.

As long as I can borrow my BIL's JD one week/year for the next couple of years, I'll have all the trenching I need to do completed.

Other than loader work, everything I do is field work. I couldn't justify the cost for the ammount of work it would see. I've been 6 years without a backhoe now and have only had two projects where I could have used it.
