I get as laugh out of people buying tractors. One. they really don't know what they want and two they want the absolutely lowest price and are will to travel hundreds of miles to get it, bypassing any local dealer in the process... BUT, if the unit needs serviced or has a warranty issue or needs repaired and the owner is incapable of doing it..

They take it to the local dealer they screwed out of the initial purchase because they wanted it at a low ball price, but then they whine because that dealer puts them behind their valued customers who deal with that dealer, buy their units there and support that dealer.

Viscous circle perpetuated by greed on the buyers part. I find it amusing.

Carry on...

Interesting. I'd argue it's a two way street. I contacted every dealer within 200 miles last time I bought a tractor and gave them all the opportunity, most didn't respond at all with a quote. The nearest guy called back and after I asked what he'd be willing to do he said they didn't negotiate on the price of the machine only add ons. I love supporting the local guy but I also like having thousands of extra dollars in my pocket to do all the other things I need to be doing.

I kinda agree as I understand both sides of the tennis match.......especially when someone tries to reach out to the "local" dealers and if they aren't responsive, then broaden the search and all loyalty to local is gone regarding the purchase. The on the other hand I understand when something breaks and a customer that purchased elsewhere expects a dealer to possibly accommodate a request for a quick fix/service.

BUT......dealers get it......and frankly if they didn't respond, I would actually mention that in person when I went for service or parts......."hey, I would have loved to have purchased here or worked out a deal here but no one returned my phone calls or inquiries....." No dealer worth their building would argue with a potential long term service customer, I would hazard a guess that 9 out of 10 would apologize in some way and everyone moves on happily ever after.

Regarding tractor buyers not knowing what they want......I think that applies to many large purchases......depends on their level of experience, research etc. I'm sure it is a large mix and runs from clueless to extremely detailed solid shopping lists......

Gee, I own in the excess of 100 grand when new in 2 large frame Kubota's both from the same (local) dealer and I never low balled him at all. I find that kind of stuff less than upstanding. He gave me a price and that was that

Whatever blows your skirt up I guess but remember, if you need service, expect to wait in line, just how that plays.

Don稚 do that, save as much money as you can and piss on the rest. Service is as dead as Abraham Lincoln. Besides, haven稚 found a dealer who turns away business yet ;)...and sounds like 5030 is keepin em in business!

I agree.

And I tried to buy local. I致e been around the block so, when the young sales guy started playing games at the end I simply told him, get it fight and call me back.

After 4 days I went elsewhere. This is called anecdotal evidence and sort of meaningless except to say, it痴 not always because of a lower price. I was a salesman for 30 some years. The idea of not calling back is both foreign and insulting to me. Somehow the owner of the dealership found out and called me, too late.

At the last minute the young sales guy tried to leave the roof off, something we had agreed on. In the end, the dealer who sold me my tractor said they quit selling the orange plastic Kubota roofs years ago. He had little good to say about them

They include metal diamond plate roofs from a local metal fab and, imho, it痴 seems to be a better option. I do see lots of bleached out orange plastic roofs.

Equine discount??? I find that amusing. Believe me, Kubota (as well as the selling dealer) are both making their profit margin. I don't like dealing with them directly. Most of them are a PITA.

20% off MSRP is pretty substantial. Congrats.
