Pricing a PTO Tiller for Sale

I have the same tiller and mine was just a 3 or 4 years old when I bought it. It was used a lot but was never in the dirt and the paint was like new with just a few scratches. I paid 650.00 for it . Mine is probably about the same age as yours

If a new Bush Hog brand is $2450 (+tax?), then a used one, in what appears to be excellent condition, should be worth $1250.
A 60" KK tiller at Blain's Farm & Fleet (usually the cheapest seller) is $1589 + shipping ($134?)
I have a 60" KK, and I do like it.
That said: Bush Hog products are known to be of highest quality, and the $1250 price would also be tax free.
The used Bush Hog (at $1250) would thus likely have a cost advantage of more than $580, over the new KK.

I've got a 72" KK and I think it's a great tool. Very well built. I agree the Bush Hog is a quality product.

How was it used without getting in the dirt?? ;)

You got a very good deal. I did as well giving $500 for my 10 yr old lightly used 72" KK. And if I was to sell mine I'd ask $1200 minimum.

A 60" KK or similar is $1550 at Rural King and Fleet Farm (Mill's Fleet Farm, in the MN/WI area) right now. There are usually one of these type places (Tractor Supply, etc.) in your area so you won't have to pay shipping. Tax, sure. They go on sale for $1450-1500 regularly in the spring. Regardless of how good a Bush Hog is, a 21 year old one isn't still worth a giant premium over a brand new quality unit. Just like the Frontier JD units, they are a lot more expensive initially but have little proven added value. A tiller is a pretty darn simple implement and as long as the structure holds and the gearbox is stout they are all the same thing.

Whatever though. The OP asked for input and I gave it, along with reasons. You don't agree so that's your right. OP can ask whatever he thinks and the market will decide. I could be proven wrong (often am). So could you. OP will let us know in a while, I'm sure.

So,,,, if "we" collectively have something we want to sell. Do we ask the minimum we think we would take??? ;)

I'm with fried, detail clean it and ask $1250 firmly. It'll sell.

Edit: Forgot to mention, what you paid for it is irrelevant. What a new one sells for today is relevant.

You made one minor error in your post.

Edit: Forgot to mention, what you paid for it is irrelevant. Implement condition plus what a new one sells for today is relevant.

There, I fixed it for you. (And if the OP had posted this in April, I would be planning a road trip to NC.)

List it a bit high, knowing that you will have to take a lot less!--Nother thing is, just how bad do you really want to sell it!!!---Thanks; sonny580

Remember the OP is in NC, not ME, spring has sprung.
I know. In April I will have the time and a desire to get away from winter. Right now I am still in winter mode, plus too much to accomplish, and too little daylight to do it.

Used to loosen up the sawdust in the turkey barns. Was pressure washed after each use and storing on the tractor inside. I knew the history of it before I bought it because I knew the guy that ran it
