And an aside about paint. I peruse CL several times daily, both in Northern Virginia and Northeast Mississippi. I'm amazed by the number of implements I see spray painted in Mississippi ON A PALLET showing the paint pattern. It seems in Northern Virginia they at least move the pallet.

I would not hesitate to spray that tiller with a nice fresh coat of machinery enamel.
I am not talking about rattle cans.
When I paint something like that I PREP it first.
I feather any chipped areas, and prime those areas. I keep old decals, but tape over them very carefully.
THEN: I get my Devilbiss gun out, and give it a nice new enamel finish.
My time is worth zero dollars, so I enjoy making a quality piece of equipment look like new again.

Terry, very nice ad, nice job of displaying the tiller. Don't depreciate the value by spraying paint on it. This is a great starting place. I'd go for CL with the same ad/price. Keep us posted on your progress!!!!

Good functioning implements from quality manufacturers typically go for about half the cost of new. As long as it's not rusted out and you can demonstrate that it works well it should sell for roughly half the cost of new.

That's not always true! I occasionally buy and resale attachments and have learned a thing or two doing it.

For example, I bought a used 5ft KingKutter rototiller in mint condition (no wear on the tines) a few years ago for $900 cash off of Craigslist. I used it very little in the time I had it, but sold it just last year for $1100. You can look up the retail to verify, but I believe it was around $1500. Of course, the condition has a huge effect on the selling price.

Get it in Craigslist too and I would spray it with diesel fuel, wait a day and then take pics with a close up of the tines. Your best market for something heavy like that is usually local. Just my two cents.

I prefer buying something in it's original paint. Even if faded and scratched. I see new paint as an attempt to hide something.

Totally agree. Don't paint it. It looks great in the picture you posted. Just wash it with soap and water and collect your 1250 (or 1100 or whatever)

Man. I paid $1300 for a new one last year. Wait i paid less than that I had a 10% off coupon plus got 3% back w their cc. So you sold a used one for more than I bought new.....
