Hi,
I have a prince selector valve that has become very difficult to switch from one position to the other. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be the cause?

Are you talking about the switch or the valve itself

Is the solenoid sticking?

JJ,
It is the slide that switches the oil flow. It was very easy to switch at first, now very difficult.

You could take it apart, inspect and clean it.

May be some debris causing it to stick.

Do i just remove the ring and slide out the whole shaft?

I believe so.

Some solenoids have a plunger to manually activate the valve on the end of the solenoid.

Randy, Prince makes a LOT of valves, both manual and solenoid - a model #, maybe even a pic would help get you closer... Steve

If you can't read the info off your valve, do any of these look familiar?

Hey, with my newfound expertise on "PB",,,,,, Randy does your valve have a PB port??

If no PB, could there be a condition that energized the valve's external seal with (excess) pressure, causing the seal to grab real hard on the slide, and cause this "sticking"? (this might be a J_J question)

It sounds more like a manua valve.

The spool seals on a manual selector valve can become dry and make the spool hard to move. Before you take anything apart, spray both exposed ends of the spool with your favorite aerosol penetrant and shift the valve several times.

It is a Prince #9-6134 valve. I removed the snap ring and had to drive the stem out with a wooden rod. after getting it out i noticed scarring on the housing from what appeared to be shavings from a burr left inside the bore at one of the cavities, shaft was smooth as a mirror. I removed the seals, used my wheel cylinder hone to remove the small scars, reinstalled the seals and it now moves with two fingers, smooth as silk and so far no leaks.
