Well I find that my jeans don't fit and I haven't seen my knees in ...oh, this is about overloaded trucks. Sorry, couldn't resist:D

LOL - actually I'm surprised I didn't see a response like this sooner.

I thought Arizona was made of gravel, with no one living more than a few minutes from some.

:)

I wish. Everything around my place is larger than my tractor bucket. :)

We did it all the time (over load trucks) 30 years ago but not so much anymore..

I assume you don't have the original build sheet that came with the truck? That would tell you all you need to know about how much it can safely and reliably haul. Often trucks are built to haul much more than they are rated/titled at.

We have a '75 C60 dump truck and according to the build sheet is has a 9K front axle, 23K rear axle, double frame, and extra heavy suspension. The truck could easily gross 32,000lbs but is only rated at 24,000. Two reasons, the 9.00-20 tires and to keep it under CDL. With that said, we often load it to 30k if we aren't going far, it has farm plates on it so we are legal even at that weight. If it had been equipped with 10.00-20 tires it probably could have had a high GVWR. Your truck is a larger, heavier duty truck than this one, so I'm sure you could haul 33K easily and safely, the legal part is up to you.

I have farm plates also.

I have farm plates also.

I should have been more specific, it has 'farm use' plates. They basically turn a truck into a road legal piece of farm equipment that can only be used for farm related work within 20-25mi of the farm. No registration, weight limits, etc. but they are limited on where you can go and what you can use the truck for. With the farm use plates in VA you could drive an 80k semi without a CDL (or license at all for that matter.)

I believe my farm plates are similar. They told me no CDL, can't haul for hire, and I'm restricted to 150 miles from home, and I cannot cross state line. No mention is made about weight restrictions.

What motor does it have? My neighbor has a 78 C60 that I maintain. Its a pig. Has a gutless 350 2 barrel and a 4 speed. 45mph is about all it has loaded or not. If it were not for that 2 speed rear end it would never get going.

Farm use in Indiana where I live is the same, 150 miles and no limit on weight or equipment. Only real kicker is you can not cross state lines.

Same motor and transmission. Not a speed demon but it gets the job done, for long distances it would be tiresome. It does 60mph unloaded on the highway, and 40-50mph is as fast as I go with a load. It was purchased new for mostly on-farm use which is probably why they went with the heavy axles and such but the smallest motor combo. Ours also has the 2spd rear, 8.85 lo, 6.65 hi ratio.
