Problems with NEW BX2200

Oh, I mow fescue at 3.5 to 4 inches--why you intent on scalping your lawn--and no--do not think that the 4 or 2 or whatever on the knob will measure exactly that or produce a cut exactly that height. J

I agree with TresCrows, mow at 3 inches in the heat of summer, the grass will do better and shade out weeds. My BX MMM mows at 3 inches when the dial is set at 3.5 and yes everything is adjusted according to the manual. You may want to consider the turf tires if you do a lot of mowing and save the ag tires for FEL dirt work, they will smooth the ride to some degree. Hey, there is a learning curve with any new equipment, you' ll get there!

FOUND THE PROBLEM ON WHY THE WHEEL CAME OFF>>>>>>>>>>

The dealer did not install the MMM correctly. The front carriage that mouts to the front of the tractor was not correctly installed to the linkage on the mower. The little 1/2" rod that sits in the bracket on the mower was someone connected to the outside instead of the inside.

That is why the wheel came off and the deck was so unaligned.

Anyway, we have centipede and St. Augustine grass in Louisiana and you have to cut it low to keep it up. Acutally 2.0inches in kind of high. At 4" the grass would be out of control.

I am from La and and my BX currently resides there. I do not mow St Augustine that short either because it lets the sun kill the runners. You are right though, 4 inches is to much but I would probably set (3) on the dial and see what that does for you. Be sure and get those scalp rollers up high enough so that when the porky little BX sinks in a little on the spongy St Augustine they will not be back rolling along on the ground. Good luck with your new tractor, hope it does good for you. J

That was a good find and you were lucky the front of the deck did not drop on you. The 2nd time I put the deck back on I didn't have the mounting correct. I tested before I let the wife start to mow. I went about 10 feet and realized the front bracket popped off and I was pushing it along with the front of the deck. That would have been a he11 of a mess if the bracket got under the deck.... Like they say, it's a learning curve.............. Tom
