They already crossed that line. Are you an attorney or are you speculating ? They have faced immedite harm.
A legal shot will still cost about $10 grand in legal fees. You will be arrested and have to spend many hours, days, weeks, months, in the legal system. A shot is to be avoided at all costs short of immediate harm to you and yours.

Dunno...I keep a 20ga 870 (open bore with #9's) next to my front door because of the neighbor's dogs. We only shoot it "up" (never "at" yet). Figure that spray will never leave my property so unless they get me for lead pollution, I have committed no crime. Funny in that the dogs don't seem to come around at all anymore.

If you don't use property much get some skunk oil and spread it around so they will not be comfortable there at all. Put the fence signs back up and put skunk oil on those too. There are some security dies that can't be detected being used you can put on property that can be traced. Put die in places it will get on their 4x4's. Get some mark your property. I'll look for the link. Make a police report, use key words, you feared for your life, you though they where going to kill your wife. They attacked like an agree mob. They were organized. I thought they were armed and threatening. Spin it up. Let police know you fear for your life and will be carrying in the area from here out, and will defended yourself, your wife, and your property with deadly force. Let police know specifically they have an obligation and responsibility to come up to speed on this case so officers who might respond are ready if they turn more violent. Get court order keeping them 1/2 from your property, that will really get them because they will not be able to use there property either, really stick it to them.

Timm250, which side of the lakes are you on? The Calloway, Marshal side or the Lyon, Livingston, Caldwell side?

Warning shots are a bad idea. Shoot one in the air with a 12-gauge pump and get three 9-mm or a 30-06 in the chest before you can cycle it. The best idea is to leave firearms out of sight until you are IN FEAR OF YOUR LIFE OR YOUR WIFE OR DAUGHTER'S LIFE. Never shoot to kill, shoot to remove the threat! Don't brandish a firearm as a threat, next time they may leave somebody with a scoped deer rifle in the trees to take you out when they just 'walk up to talk'. Be aware of everything going on around you.

Wasn't there a title search done before you bought the property?

Always shoot to kill. That removes the threat forever, angry wounded people want revenge. No trespassing has already been established, there is no reason for them to walk up to talk, if they do it's a threat on your life. Act accordingly.

I read thru every post. Some good advice here.

1. File assault charges and have the cops get everyone who is involve names on the document.
2. Get a restraining order on everyone who appeared on the assault document.
3. Take a handgun carry class, KNOW and have proof of the laws on your person at all times.
4. Explain to the officers involved that you are taking every precaution to protect your family and you understand, based off prior experience with them, that it takes 20-30 minutes for them to respond.

In Tennessee you MUST be in fear of your life in order to use deadly force.

I had a new neighbor several years ago who claimed my dog was getting into his trash at night. My dog is always in at dark and stays in all night sleeping at the foot of my bed. During the day my dog wore and electronic collar that kept her inside my property. This guy came beating on my door about noon one day complaining about the dog. A family friend staying with us informed him it wasn't our dog and asked him to leave. He continued to beat on the door, yelling and cursing. She called me in a panic, I told her to call the police and not to allow them to leave until I arrived. Once I arrived the officers informed me the neighbor was gone when they arrived. I was informed about the conversation they had with him and he would not be bothering us any more. I explained in detail about the neighbor, his prior actions and his arrests and convictions. I went further to explain that since they "spoke with him" if he attempted to come on my property again I would have no choice to view it as a life threatening situation. I based this off his refusal to follow a police order and his prior convictions. They made it a point to return to his house and speak with him again. According to the officers I would be within my rights if I felt my life was in danger. I never heard another peep from him.

Later I found out about a stray dog that was the same color as mine. Not to mention all the guy had to do was buy a $10 trash can instead of leaving his trash in a bag on his porch.

Bottom line do your homework, have a paper trail, know the law and be within it and do what is necessary to protect your family.

Yeah and sometimes they end up suing you for tons of money and win the lawsuit.

I'm more spitefull than most on here but first things first is your family's safety. Mob mentality is dangerous. If I found myself being circled by them and attempting bodily harm and they reused to heed warnings to get off my land, someone is going to be dropped.

To keep them off you're place take a 2x6 and drive nails thru it. Place it in the 4 wheeler paths with clear warnings that you are not responsible for damage should trespassing occur. Set up game cameras I the trees to capture illegal activity along with cameras near yours house in case of retribution.

So far you have handles this better than me. I wouldn't be looking for a confrontation but if one finds me or mine, it's game over. My life won't be threatend over a property line dispute but there will be.

They aren't going to sue anyone. Their kin might but I'd rather be judges by 12 than carried by 6

What I'm saying is shoot to kill also. I'm not fixing to shoot one in the leg so I can later be sued by them or fire a warning shot so I can be arrested for that either. If I feel threatened or my family is threatened I'm going to make sure to aim center mass and shoot until the threat is gone.
