Just got topped off and billed me at $4.79/gal. After 3 hrs on the phone I got it down to $1.99/gal.

Funny how prices fluctuate from state to state. Same here in Canada. Somebody is making money somewhere but who and where is the question.

No they do not. I have been a "auto-fill" for years and this problem only started when the management changed a year or so ago. Ken Sweet

Locked in winter pricing back in September for about .98/gallon. Missed the low point of the year. Still running off the rolled over contract from last winter so currently taking delivery at .95/gallon.

I just got a topoff delivery of 96 gallons for my 500 gallon tank at $1.78 per gallon.
I thought last year it was a few cents less. Had a chat with the boss/mgr of the propane company that delivers to me, nice guy, got him to chat about things he
probably should not have, such as the reality of consumer pricing. And how they don't have to go any lower even if the wholesale price drops further. Rack up the profits
on the greater margin, knowing that a reserve must be kept for some market disruption. As long as everyone goes home happy and the consumer see relatively low prices, they
don't need to see the lowest price, particularly when prices really have dropped over time. Perception helps to sell the higher price.
Until a competitor starts a price war, but that doesn't always happen. Like corner gas stations that exactly match each other within minutes of price changes, the fix is in.
Now I'm two hours inland from the Atlantic, pretty far East, and since I thought all this gas came from Texas or Oklahoma and piped East, that makes me pretty far away. Not like Maine or Key West, nor Alaska, but pretty far away. So why is my propane so cheap? Are there refineries closer to me than I think?
don't think I'll complain about the price. but it would be fun to chat up that same guy, who was extremely nice. I bought a beautiful Wilmington NC made gas grill from them
and had it hooked to my big tank. So with my backup gen and two gaspacks for heating, I'm a good residential customer for them. But a nothing compared to an agricultural customer say with greenhouses.

that makes sense, 80% is full.
My delivery people come more often than they need to, but I'm not complaining...
the gps coordinates they printed on my delivery slip put them exactly in my parking lot,
accurate to under ten feet, maybe less.

My wife called yesterday to top us off as once snow falls in earnest, I cannot get any more deliveries. She told them we are only down to 65-70% down on our 500g tank. The co. rep said no problem, they'll be up on Friday and the price is $1.79 and another 10 cents off if paid within 10 days.
So $1.69, pretty good for the northeast.
btw, we actually heat with oil and have 2-275gal tanks and use the propane for supplemental heat, stove and tankless hot water.

Didn't make it to the summer price drop this year. Just requested 200 gallons @ 1.59/gallon. Will top off this summer.

$1.59? Ouch! My pre-buy contract expired March 1 and the remaining money moved to the normal "cash" account. I was thinking I'd be fine...until this past week when global warming took a holiday.

who was getting their employee discount, because her son worked for the corporate owners of the propane company,
and it was 1.16. Wow, talk about a markup. 80 cent markup to customer and you know that 1.16 is above their cost.
Am beginning to think that getting my own tank may give me needed bargaining strength. These folks are very good
though, truck never wrecks my paved driveway and always fill me up when I am no lower than half full. I have a whole house backup gen
so won't go below half on principle for that. Otherwise propane use is only for winter heat so my bills at least now drop. They said to
call back in August for a guaranteed price deal. they said last year I could have prepaid for 1.45 per gallon. That's quite a savings...
