Mornin James,
Looks like your on your way with doing a good job on that tank!!

I bought a 330 gallon tank from the farmer up the road last fall for $400 and it had a half tank of fuel, I thought that was a great deal. The tank was 10 years old. He even brought it down to my property with his tractor and trailer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I lightly sanded it and put a coat of white metal primer on it, some spots are OK but others I have some flaking /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif This summer I will put a little more time into it . Good luck!

James nice job you're doing with the tank.

Unfortunately we have so many nuts w/guns around these parts that if I owned one myself I might as well just paint it like this cause it's gonna happen sooner or later.

We used to stack green firewood around our propane tank to let it (the wood, not the tank /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) season for a year or so. Not right on top of the tank but a few feet away. This helped protect the tank and keep it somewhat hidden.

I use propane to supply my kitchen range/oven and a fireplace insert. I don't use much propane per year, maybe 125 pounds. My propane supplier recommended 2 100 pound tanks with an automatic valve to switch between the two and indicate when one goes empty.

So, instead of a big tank out back I just have 2 smaller 100 pound tanks up against the house. These tanks are supplied by the propane company and refilled periodically by them. I did not have to buy the tanks initially.

My question is, how common is it for a propane company to supply you with a tank for free? Do I get mine for free because they are smaller? Would they charge me if I went up to a larger tank?
