I had someone find me just by a picture I posted of a farm in my area and an intersection In my general area. Now my name and address was outed. They just did a little internet research.
See what I mean?

Now everytime I post pictures, I have to put a black mark over truck & equipment insignia. I wouldnt have to do it if it weren’t for losers like that.

This ain’t the only thing that I have seen happen. Not to me, but to others.
I would never do that, but then again, I can generally stop the escalation at a little friendly sarcasm or good natured ribbing.
Theres a few loose cannons out there who cant.

What if it wasnt ever published?
Like I said before, people can research on the internet and find out just who is who pretty easily.
I notice you dont publish your location. Your name is very discreet, has nothing to do with your occupation, hobbies, etc.
Is that because youre afraid someone might be able to find you elsewhere with research?
I dont know.
Maybe I should change my user name to AB222 and put “none” in my location, too.

Disagree. In a similar scenario, look at what defunding the police did in ‘20-‘21 in the big cities. Crime spiked.
Its the same thing here. If theres reduced or no guardrails, it’ll be the least common denominators running the show.
I can agree with letting more go in terms of politics, covid, media, etc. but I dont think losing grasp on civility is ever a way to go.
Make it a place where you can rip another person for their political, covid, social beliefs, etc., but NOT rip the person.

In a private club, member culture is pretty powerful in maintaining social order. An ass or two here and there can always be found but they are not a threat to the membership.

In a private club, member culture is pretty powerful in maintain order. An ass or two here and there can always be found but they are not a threat to the membership.

No, this place is 100% inclusive. All you need is a smart device, a username and password.
AFAIK, a convicted murderer in a jail cell, or an unstable person near a fellow member has just as much access as you or me do. What if those 2 get into an argument and it escalates?

Disagree. TBN is a very broad section of our society. Much more broad than any private golf club. Spend an hour perusing TBN and just looking at the member's info. Very broad society base. And many an ass have ruined membership in private golf clubs.

Yes, TBN is amazing broad for a "tractor" forum. But the threads are very specialized and focussed on specific matters of interest. Reading those posts is, to me, like observing very involved discussions by learned academics of a university. I don't see how a nutjob can destabilize a discussion on the finer points of a Mahindra tractor compared to a John Deere.

Happens every day here. More is learned in the sidebar discussions than in the subject material discussions.

Then you are VERY naive, Or lacking observational skills.
I see it happen weekly.

Look at threads comparing Ford, Ram or GM. Or threads about diesel versus gas, in line versus V-8, Kubota versus Kioti.
1/2 of them go south in the first 2 pages.

Now try a thread of R versus D, L versus C, president from 2016-200 versus 2020-now.
