I am just outside North Bay. But I work in the Thunder Bay/Pickle Lake area. from my house to Pickle Lake is about 1,000 miles.
Ontario Health Insurance Plan does the medical thing. Airlift to either Winnipeg,MB or Thunder Bay,ON

Except that recently the Govt has been selling off the OHIP helicopters on CADC web site.
No where have I seen replacement bids to replace them.

Ontario is a BIG province! Looked up North Bay...they would actually fly you to Winnipeg? Why not Ottawa? Pickle Lake is about 800 miles from here I guess and we stayed at a place 50 miles south on the Albany river...fishing was great but the restrictions got to the point where it wasn't worth it anymore. Rugged county!

Hmmm... perhaps it's time to look at an alternative provider/service like our Royal Flying Doctor Service. It's not just an Outback 'thing' either as they quite often fly here because St Helens is a good 2 hrs away from Launceston and 3.5 hrs from Hobart (where the big hospitals are). We've got the only aerodrome on the east coast of Tassie, plus a 'base hospital' to support.

Another thing are the Rescue Helicopters. All of them are sponsored by a bank (Westpac) or automobile clubs (like the CAA).

You guys will know the power of pain if you ever have a prostate biopsy. They count backwards from 12. At 9 or 8 you will be searching for a gun. The next day when they call, it can be the worst news of you life. But, I survived and can now out-pee my dogs.

Been there done that and yes I can drain the radiator very quickly now.

Just this morning had the camera and crew forced up my willy. At least I got to watch the pictures. Neat! The pictures that is NOT the camera and crew going up there. Quack wants another PSA test in three months. I told him I would get one done in November about a week before I saw him again. I'm leaving next month to go back to work about 1,000 miles from home and wont be back till November.

For any that may be dealing with an enlarged prostate in the future; be prepared to strip from the waist down every time you go into one of those little exam rooms. LOL

It's not fun, but do get it done. A family member didn't, he didn't like it... Now he has stage iv prostate cancer and a few months left.

LOL, you are closer to Pickle Lake than I am.
There are still a lot of Americans go up there.
I understand the Spring Bear hunt is 'on again'. You might want to check with Marty at Silver Dollar first though.

From Pickle Lake, Ignace area including Souix Lookout and Red lake area IF the injuries are bad enough you get transported to either Winnipeg,MB or Thunder Bay,ON.
From North Bay, it would be either Ottawa (which has an excellent childrens' hospital) or Toronto. The North Bay hospital is not all that bad. And it is new.
