I just purchased a New BX23 Tractor and have a few questions.

1. Is there a "Mulching Kit" available for this series Tractor (I have the 54" deck).
2. I have searched the Forum and have some data, but I would like to hear what the available Tillers are that are compatible/recommended (so far the Woods GTC40 seems the right buy).
3. Sometimes when removing and installing the Back Hoe and/or Loader there seems to be excess pressure in the lines that prevents hook-up without discharging the lines manually to atmosphere.
4. After mowing and general use with the Back Hoe removed the hydraulic lines felt very hot when I attempted to reconnect the Back Hoe, is this normal?

Although I only have 3/4 acre, I plan on some extensive leveling of the ground, trenching drainage piping, building a retaining wall, and of course mowing (sold my Cub to support this purchase) - seems a little bigger once I had it delivered, but like most say on this site, "it is better to be over-tractored than under". I plan on buying the Tiller and Box Blade pretty soon (the Box Blade is the Woods model as well - which my dealer had in stock).

Purchace price with the 54" deck was $16,300, another proposed $1,050 for the Woods Tiller and $475 for the Woods Box Blade rounds it out to $17,825 - am I nuts????

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention buy the Snow Blower attachment after my current snow moving machine sells - a Suzuki 500cc 4WD ATV.

Well, I'm not the one to decide. Add up my B2910, loader, Woods backhoe, rear snowblower, rototiller, rear blade, box blade & post hole auger, and Howse carry-all and boom pole, and I'm in the $30,000 neighborhood. And I'm only on 2/3 acre. I've got about 88 hours in almost 4 years.

Don't listen to all the others. Enjoy your new tractor. You'll smile everytime you need it and you'll be pleased that your money was well spent. In my mind, you're perfectly sane. Does that help any? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good Luck with your BX23.

I only have a BX22 but I will try to answer the questions for ya.

1) I do not think so but I am not 100% sure
2) Tiller, no idea
3) Yup, move the loader, BH stabilizer feet, or mower release lever to get rid of the pressure in the sys
4) If I remember, the hyd will get up to 100 degrees hotter then the atmospheric conditions (outside air). Which is ok, my gets warm but not hot. Plus I do not know how hot, hot is.

Don’t feel bad, I have about 1/3 less land and have the BX22. I love EVERY minute on it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

mulching kit for my 54" MMM was $250 when I purchased my BX2200. Consists of 3 blades and some deflectors for the deck.

I have not used it yet, so can't speak to it's effectiveness.

I have the mulching kit on my 54" deck - it does a great job! the only thing to keep inmind is that you will not want to be taking the mulching kit on and off. It takes around 18 bolts (if I remember correctly). But after I mow my lawn there are no clippings to be seen.

Alpo,

that's a good price, actually a great price compared to mine. My BX23 is being delivered on Sat and the best I could do was $17,100 with the 60"MMM. I'm in Northern NJ. Where did you buy yours?

Thanks for all the replies. I am not sure if I am allowed by the site to name the Dealer (if it can be determined that there are no issues I will though). They were more than helpful in all the aspects of my purchase. They are also the ones providing the Tiller and Box Blade, at prices that were the best found as well. I will say that they are a large equipment dealer right here in Salem County New Jersey dealing in at least Case, Cub Cadet, and of course Kubota.

For those that have stated they have obtained a mulching kit.....what brand is it, and where might it be purchased - actually any help would be appreciated.

As for the issue with the pressure in the lines preventing reconnecting the Back Hoe, I did try to manipulate the Hoe and feet without any luck. Next time I will give it a little more effort/time. The lines were HOT!!!! I could not hold on to them for more than a second or two, at least the metal tips.

Again, thanks for all the replies. I guess if I am NUTS, I am definately not alone. And to think, I thought I was nuts last year when I spent $2200 for a Cub Cadet Mower!

Hope you enjoy your bx23 as much as I do my bx22 - - mine will be one year old next week.
The muching kit - - I asked the dealer about one after I took delivery. They did not know - - had to get back to me. After several days, 'Yeah, something just over $300'. It wasn't worth it for me. I recommend you try it without the kit - - I have not found I've missed it.
Your hydraulic hook ups - - - As another poster said, before disconnecting the lines, with the engine off, move the BH & FEL levers through all positions. That should relieve the pressure. & yeah, they are hot after running for a while.

My BX22 with 60" deck & 48" Woods Box Scraper was ~~$17k. I could have saved a few bucks by doing business with a more distant dealer, but thought it would be worth it to stay local.
You don't have too much machine for your property - - you don't have enough property! Enjoy.

Just reviewed the policies and see no reason why I can not devouge the Dealer. The Dealer is called Farm Rite, and my salesmen's name was Dell. He was Extremely helpful and quite knowledgeable in his area. I felt that he went out of his way to find, sell, and communicate the equipment I needed. The prices I received were not after any bickering either, but were the lowest found. He is a large Dealer and I guess size equates to volume discounts in his favor.

Again thanks for all your input as well - and keep it coming. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
