PT 425 Robin Engine Problem

I'll call baloney on that, my 2007 PT 425 with Subaru/Robin 25hp blew the rear main seal out at 2? or maybe it was 4? hours on the clock when the governor kicked the can and I know he heard about that one. I was lucky, no fire when the oil sprayed all over the engine compartment.

I looked that main bearing over and its massive. I can't figure out how the governor would have taken out the rear main seal on the PTO side. It would have had to go through the rear main bearing to do that! To get there in the oil it would have to go through the pickup oil filter.

Fortunately, my governor failure didn't cause any apparent permanent damage. I found all the metal parts at the bottom of the crankcase under the oil pickup filter. The gear itself was twisted up but stayed on its shaft. I was impressed with how easy it is to work on these engines with no single purpose tools needed.
