PTO adapter

I'm thinking about buying a 3pt sprayer but the pump is splined for 1000rpm(small splines). My tractor has a two speed pto but the shaft has the 540(big)splines. To change speeds I move a lever between 540 and 1000rpm. Does anyone know if there is an adapter that will slide on my shaft that the pump can then slide on to?

I have seen several types of PTO adapters at Agri-Supply, but I don't recall exactly what they have. You'd also need to have room between the sprayer shaft end and the tractor for the adapter to fit.
I imagine Tractor Supply also carries this sort of thing.
I'd definitely make sure of the availablity to hook it up the the tractor before I committed to the purchase. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Those adapters will increase the overall length of your PTO shaft by 3-6 inches. Hopefully the PTO shaft will have enough slide in it to handle that if not you might have to shorten it.

If this is a PTO driven sprayer pump that sits on the PTO, the coupler is probably a separate unit. A couple set screws take it off and all thats on the pump itself is a keyed shaft. Then you can replace it with a different coupler.

Also it may be a 1000/540 dual speed coupler. I think those have unevenly spaced splines so you can look for those.

Thanks for your help guys. The pump is a Delavan centrifugal pump that slides right on the pto shaft. There is a bracket that bolts to the drawbar to hold the pump, so I don't think the extra length will be a problem.
