I am looking for pto clutch springs for a 48" HOWARD rotovator . All the tractor dealers want to sell a complete PTO shaft/clutch assembly. Does anyone know a source for the springs, or am I condemned to buy the complete assembly?
The usual PTO parts sources don't show any springs. If you know the dimensions and wire thickness of the springs you can look for similar ones in a spring catalog. The springs would depend on the make and model of the PTO clutch. Many implement makers shipped different PTO shafts or clutches depending on what was in stock at the time. So you'd need to specify the clutch make and model.
I have an "E" mounted Series 2 Howard Rotovator Selectilth in need of replacement slip clutch springs or possibly new clutch (not looking into this idea unless last resort). Need 6 new or near new clutch springs. Can't find many places here in Oregon for parts. Tiller is 50+ years old and DOES...
