Posthole Digger PTO-driven post hole auger suggestions

I think the 7300 is a little more stout (look at top tabs) but doesn't come with the metal pole to position (tilt/lean) the auger (look bottom right). I like the "guide" pole but it's bent several ways, I would go with the 7300.

the 7200 has the guide rod and a lighter casting of the gearbox. The 7300 has no guide rod and a heavier casting.

For what it's worth....I wore out a cheap post holer (generic brand x) and just recently purchased a Woods 65...it's built like a tank, heavy duty transmission and can take any auger size you need. Price is not as cheap as the ones previously mentioned but I figure this one will last me a very long time.

With the recession/depression in full swing...sharing costs is a great idea if you have trustworthy neighbors. That's how this country was founded. Sounds like you've all sat down and hammered out the details...congrats.

My 7200 came with the guide rod as well. Nothing more than a 6ft piece of black iron pipe though.

Heres two I own.Red one is a International(World Ag Corp) 12" auger.
Yellow one is a Speeco(6" auger).
Have to agree Leinbachs are good especially 8000/9000 mdls(thats where they start getting pricey)IMHO.Of course Bushhog,Woods make good stuff but seems to me lots of PHD's use Comer gear boxes. Not that there bad.Which I could be wrong but might be made in China. Also its no secret Danuser considered one of the best.I believe all Danuser components made in good old USA or at least they use to be.

If you've got an Agri-Supply where you can get to it they have a house brand which goes for about $500 IN STORE w/ auger.
We had a thread on this forum about it.

We don't have Agri-Supply but we do have Tractor Supply. Does anyone have any opinions about the King Kutter brand for a PHD? I would guess most opinions to be negative, but curious anyway.

sounds like the guide rod on the 7200 is a mixed blessing. I generally like to see my money spent on greater durability. Is the 7300 too big for a TC 30 (the smallest of the three tractors in our little cooperative)?? I've heard that sometimes the 7300 and the standard 7200 are too "tall" for a shorter tractor frame (which is why they seem to make the 7200JR).

Nebraska, can I ask what you paid for your Woods 65? And given the three tractor's horsepowers (30, 32, and 35), do you think the 65 is too much machine (say, vs. the 35)?
