So I am seriously considering these two tractors. Grand L, Cab, Hst, etc.
My delema is this, do I jump for the 60 HP for the higher PTO HP?
My needs are, snow plowing, drive way manitence, mowing (6' rotary or finish on field grass), moving 1 ton pallets of pellets, fence post auger to 12", I'm getting a backhoe for numerous trenching building landscaping tasks. I have 40 acres in dryland hay and would like to work it all myself one day. So there's a potential for drum mower, tedder, rake, and small square bailer.
The root of my question is this, is there anything the 46.5 PTO HP (L5460) wouldn't do, that the 53 PTO HP (L6060) would Do?
I'm not sure what to do. I havent priced the L6060 over the L5460 but I suspect a $2500+ difference
Thanks Charles
Go faster. Burn more fuel per hour working flat out.
All the Grand Kubotas have the same frame. Just different engines & tires. The L3560 is the only exception & can only have the small loader. My L4060 takes a medium or small loader, the rest can take the small, medium or large loaders. Both those machines will take the big loader, which I highly recommend. My medium loader is ok, but even my L4060 feels like it could take a lot more loader.
My 40hp L4060 is close to the HP traction ratio. I might be able to plow or do dirt work faster with more HP, but really operator control is as much of a limitation. The bug call for more power is PTO operation. I do wish I had more HP when mowing. But I still get the job done just the same, only a hair slower. I suspect a 6' mower would be a decent match for my L4060, but undersized for a bigger machine. Unless you are mowing really tall thick grass or heavy brush. And really grass taskes more HP than woody brush.
My L4060 flows 10gpm or so for hydraulics, which at 2,500psi is 20hp or so. A quick look at Tractordata says the L6060 has the same 9.something gpm. So no difference in hydraulics & both will run a hydraulic PHD or backhoe exactly the same.
In either case, be prepared for a fight to get half way decent hydraulics on the rear if you order them. My dealer is picking up (his dime, good dealer) my L4060 yet again on Monday (traveling for a week so good time for it to be MIA). This is his 2nd or 3rd try trying to get the rear hydraulics working properly. The spools are loose as he'll & my TnT cylinders leak down. Top is fine at under an inch or so an hour. Tilt leaks down in under 45 minutes with an impliment on.
