You also have to watch the geometry of the 3pt on the brush hog (pa name) and the 3pt on a compact tractor. I just bought a 6' brush hog for my compact and although it works the geometry is just wrong. Most of these larger units are made for a utility type tractor that sits higher off of the ground, with the factory set up my 3pt hitch arms and the center link all run up hill an I really can't lift the mower up very high because in the down position the arms are already half of the way up. The tractor handles the mower just fine and definitely has the PTO HP needed for it but it just doesn't fit right. I don't know if anyone makes a larger unit specifically for a compact tractor but you may want see.
The fix isn't that hard all I have to do is put two bolts in where the 3pt pins are now to hold the braces and drill new holes down lower to reinstall them, then remove the floating top link from the mower and that will drop the center link down also, but that said the distance that the pins are lowered will also have to take into account where the PTO shaft runs when lifted so it clears the mower deck. I guess I could also install taller tires on the tractor, but that isn't going to happen.
