Jd 4500::while using bushhog when I get in thick grass such as the road grass I call it, pto stops...shaft and all.. the manual says not enough rpm on tractor..give more rpm..what do y’all think?

That does not sound correct to me. If the engine stays running but PTO stops, something is slipping.

Sounds like either low pressure or a worn out clutch. You can check the pressure with a 300 psi gauge and a 1/8" male pipe adapter. Pressure should be around 218 psi. If low, you can check orings on solenoid, or possibly defective solenoid. If solenoid and orings are good, then cliutch needs to come out and rebuilt. If pressure is good, then clutch needs rebuilding for sure.
