That, and water running down the shaft and through an imperfect seal between the shaft & bag, then being trapped in the bag.

Not an idea I'm going to adopt. I'm all about letting nature dry out the stuff it gets wet.

The bag would be nice to keep debris out of the splines, but the probability of rust is too great.

Never worried about it.

From here... to lay the tip coupler on a brick or board to prevent it being in the dirt. The real worry is if water can get penned up inside anywhere.

Oh, gosh. Now that you got me thinking paranoid - I just disconnected both and took them in the shop. Now both are inside where its warm & dry.
