PTO shield safety chains

My Wallenstein chipper is the only implement, I own, with a PTO shaft. The shield safety chain is fairly long. I run the chain thru one of the unused 3-point arm adjustment holes and snap it back onto itself. There is plenty of slack to raise/lower the chipper.

Lord knows - I grease that PTO shaft & shield. The shield usually just "floats" and the safety chain will seldom wrap around the shield.

My equipment is old, no such chains on the PTO shafts, I treat a spinning shaft with extreme caution and respect, the best policy with or without the guard.

That痴 me right there. I致e been around enough things that bite unexpectedly ,aircraft propellers in particular to make sure it can稚 before going near it. With a tractor it pretty much ( except hydraulic pressure) can稚 bite if it痴 engine isn't running. With a plane you can have the key in your hand and it can still chop you to bits. Compared to those things PTOs are safe and simple.
