PTO Trencher

I was wondering if any one had used a pto trencher

60" trencher

bradco also has one. I am looking to run some baried pipe below the frost line which is unfortunatly about 4' here. i know i will have several applications of it at various times and i suspect I could get a lil side money with it to.

I have a Bradco that I have used a lot infact have had to rebuild the slip clutch twice It will dig 4ft deep and 6in wide. You will have to have a hydstrat tractor or you can not go slow enough you must run the wide open and move at a crawl more so when you get to 4 feet deep also they will not dig rock or tree roots very well unless you have the rock chain which is about twice the price They also are hard to hold a grade with in fact next to impossible unless you are the slope on the pipe is the same as the ground. Didn't mean to make them sound that bad they just have there limitations but for water electric or gas line where you don't need to hold a grade and the ground is sutable they work great and save a lot in clean up you can do most of the backfilling by hand with a rake and tear up very little They do need a little more horsepower than they say the L48 I have runs it well if you don't have to go up any steep hills

A couple of years ago a new Bradco trencher was between $4K and $5K.

Can't remember for sure but I believe I paid $4500 or close to that about 5 years ago

that is good to know. I was expecting to need a 30-35 for my prop. I know i have to go 4'+ due to frost. i would have to do grade but might be able to angle with or go straight down... I was eventually hoping to do some solar hot water for green houses that would be level. but will proly need to get bigger tractor to use it.
