Anyone know what type of u-joint I should order for my tiller PTO? I see Agri supply sells series 1-8. How do I tell which one I have? I have a 2210D with a RS1400 (yamnar) tiller.
Obvious novice at u-joints - the last one I messed with was on a 1973 pontiac station wagon....
thanks!

Why not just take the slip yoke up to the local auto parts and have them make the measurements and buy the U- joint there? My guess is it is a standard size . That way you know it will fit and you can install it same day instead of ordering and waiting and than sending it back because it is the wrong size . Just my opinion . Al

If you can identify the mfr... ask them the exact size.

Most tillers will fall in the range of sizes 2-4... The PTO shafts/u-joints are rated according to hp.

I have attached a chart you can use for sizing & identification purposes. Since most PTO shafts are European, (Italy/Spain) measurements will be metric...

Thanks for the great chart John.
I'm wondering what the series B and E are measurements of?
Can't make any sense out of those diagrams....

I am not exactly sure what part you are looking for. The PTO shaft is made up of an implement yoke, a cross and bearings set, a yoke and inner shaft,a yoke and outer shaft, another cross and bearings set, and a tractor yoke. Bondioli Pavesi sort of sets the standard for the Italian metric shafts and the other Italian PTO parts are more or less interchangable. The PTO shafts and parts from Agri-Supply are made by Eurocardan. One problem that you might run into is that the input shaft on the Yanmar the tiller is not always standard. You may have to go to a Yanmar dealer to get the parts you need. Sometimes when messing with PTO shafts you find that it is cheaper to get a complete new shaft then to fix an old one. Any way you go PTO parts are expensive.

They are cross sectionals of the PTO shafts...

You mainly want to look at the left hand side and measure your "cross" assembly for sizing... any local farm supply should be able to do this for you...
