Pulling a plow with a CUT.

The 8n was designed to be able to pull a 2-bottom plow.

<font color=blue>We pulled a 2-14 plow with my Dad's 8N Ford. It didn't lack either power or traction.

Just to show my ignorance regarding this topic, I'll ask this question... Why would you use a "plow" in place of a "cutting disc"? I've "plowed" large fields with a large row of cutting disc's, does an actual "plow" give a different result? Maybe it digs deeper? Seems you can pull a lot more dics's than plow bottoms with a given number of horsepower.

Thanks,
- Patrick

Amen to that! I've got a Ferguson TO-20 that I use for everything except for real heavy stuff (like running a square baler). There's nothing like a Fergie!!!/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Re: Pulling a plow with a CUT. Yanmar

My cousin has a two bottom plow and I hooked up to it with my Yanmar 1500D to see what would happen. It will pull it with weights on but way to slow for much good. We got some grins though . Supposed to be 15 HP.

A plow will not only go deeper, but it also turns the soil over. Very useful for getting organic material/fertilizer down into the soil. A cutting disc just breaks up the soil on the surface.

Ed, Thanks, yes that makes sense.
